Carla Swan is an Oxford University-trained, a highly trained CBT, psychodynamic and systemic couples therapist, who has extensive experience of working with client individuals and couples in a safe, comfortable and confidential environment. She provides short-, medium-, and long-term therapeutic services from London’s Harley Street and in Buckinghamshire.

Carla received her Masters level Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at Oxford University and her Postgraduate Certificate in Couples Counselling from the University of East London.

She is accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), the leading organisation for CBT in the UK, and a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). This means that she is bound by the codes of ethics and practice of both organisations, guaranteeing the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality; here are details of the framework for the BACP and the BABCP. She is also an accredited family law consultant with Resolution.

Carla’s work portfolio includes the following organisations: Relate, BABCP, NHS Secondary Care, and MIND. She designed and implemented the couples therapy service within Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust as part of the national Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) primary care service, ensuring that it was up to date with NICE guidelines. Her supervisor and mentor is Professor Don Baucom the world-recognized founder of cognitive behavioural therapy for couples, and Carla was one of first practitioners in the UK to train other clinicians in this evidence-based approach to couples therapy.

Though mainly working in English, Carla sometimes counsels clients through a foreign language interpreter.
